Newsletters
A newsletter is one message to a list of people who asked for it. You write it in the dashboard, with no HTML, and we send one copy per subscriber with an unsubscribe link in each.
Which plans include it
Growth and Scale. Free and Starter are for transactional email only: messages your application sends to one person because of something they did. Newsletters are marketing email and go out on a separate delivery lane, so a newsletter backlog or a complaint about one can never delay or damage a password reset. Compare plans.
One domain, one kind of mail
A domain sends either transactional mail or newsletters, never both, and we enforce it. Gmail and Outlook keep reputation per domain: if people mark a newsletter as spam, that domain's standing drops, and you do not want your password resets and receipts to share it. A newsletter from a transactional domain is refused, and so is a transactional email from a newsletter domain.
Set up once
- Add and verify a newsletter domain. A subdomain of its own, such as
news.yourcompany.com, chosen as "Newsletters" when you add it. The DNS steps are the same as for transactional mail. - Create a brand. Name, domain, logo, two colors and your business mailing address, which anti-spam law requires in every footer.
- Add subscribers to a list. Paste addresses or import a CSV with an
emailcolumn. You confirm that these people agreed to hear from you and say where they signed up; we keep that record. People who unsubscribed, bounced or complained are never added back.
Then, for every newsletter
Design
Pick the brand and one of three layouts, or start from a saved template.
Write
Subject, headline, message and an optional button, in plain text. A live preview shows exactly what subscribers will get.
Recipients
Choose the list. Unsubscribed and suppressed people are skipped automatically.
Review and send
Every requirement is checked in one list, each with a link to fix it. Send yourself a test, then send to the list.
Every step saves your draft, so you can stop at any point and continue later from the newsletter list.
After sending
- Sent means our email provider accepted the message. Delivered means the receiving server confirmed it. Neither means it was opened.
- Unsubscribing takes one click and applies immediately. Hard bounces and spam complaints suppress the address for your whole account.
- Each subscriber counts as one email toward your monthly allowance. Your test sends count too, but they are not part of the newsletter's statistics.
