Mailgun alternative
PigeonAtlas vs. Mailgun
A smaller tool with longer memory on the cheap plans
Mailgun is a large, flexible sending platform with SMTP and a REST API on every plan, inbound routing, and a choice of US or EU region from one account. PigeonAtlas does less. It is cheaper at each of the three volumes below, keeps message history longer on its smaller plans, and includes newsletters.
Mailgun is the better choice for
- Applications that receive and route inbound mail, which we do not do.
- Teams that need SMTP and attachments today.
- Senders who want phone and chat support (Mailgun's Scale plan).
PigeonAtlas is the better choice if
- You want a monthly free plan. Mailgun's free plan is 100 emails a day with one day of logs.
- You want 30 days of message bodies on every plan, not one day on Basic and five on Foundation.
- You want newsletters in the same plan.
- Your code already speaks Resend.

Moving from Mailgun
- Create a PigeonAtlas account and verify your sending domain.
- Create an API key.
- Replace the form-encoded POST to Mailgun's messages endpoint with a JSON POST to https://pigeonatlas.com/v1/emails carrying from, to, subject, html and text.
- Point a webhook endpoint at your handler for sent, delivered, bounced and complained events.
- Keep inbound routes on Mailgun if you use them; we only send.
The API reference has the request in four languages, and the prompts do the move with an AI assistant in one paste.
